🌟 Senior R&D Engineering Manager – Galway (Hybrid)
Location: Galway, Ireland
Work Type: Hybrid (4 days onsite per week)
 Are you a passionate leader ready to drive innovation in medical device development? We’re looking for a Senior R&D Engineering Manager to lead our high-performing R&D engineering team in Galway. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee critical development projects, shape team culture, and collaborate across functions to bring cutting-edge medical technologies to life.
 What You’ll Do
As a Senior R&D Engineering Manager, you will:
  • Plan, direct, and implement all aspects of design and development for new medical device products.
  • Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering engagement, growth, and high performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Core Teams to drive project success and innovation.
  • Oversee the evaluation and integration of new technologies, methodologies, and materials.
  • Guide the full product lifecycle — from concept development through to market release.
  • Manage feasibility studies to ensure functional and design excellence.
  • Maintain rigorous technical documentation throughout all R&D phases.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Champion product development best practices including Voice of Customer, early risk management, and Design for Reliability & Manufacturability (DRM).
  • Occasionally travel (up to 25%) for domestic and international collaboration.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: Level 8 Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Leadership: Proven people management experience — including 1:1s, performance reviews, recruitment, and career development.
  • Experience: Background in the medical device industry with a track record of delivering successful projects.
Skills:
  • Strong communication, team-building, and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Program management expertise is a distinct advantage.
  • Results-driven mindset with a passion for mentoring and empowering teams.
