Overview:

Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Conduct business in a manner that will protect human health, safety and the environment by complying with all applicable EHS laws.
- Set up and maintain waste water and energy systems from inception.
- Establish an occupational health system for the team.
- Create all relevant safety programs for site.
- Assist in the maintenance of an effective EHS system.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental legislation, Company Procedures and Standards by ensuring all required EHS documentation is up to date and readily available.
- Educate and engage employees in efforts to optimise EHS performance.
- Ensure EHS audits are conducted and all issues effectively closed out.
- Promote continuous improvement in all environmental and safety matters.
- Ensure all EHS incidents are investigated to establish causation and resolution.
- Promote, implement and participate in safety committees
- Ensure permit completion in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Manage and coordinate vendors and contractors where there is an EHS impact, and in accordance with local legislation.
- Develop and deliver EHS Training Courses..
- Assess and determine the introduction of new equipment, hazards, processes and chemicals.
- Develops working relationships with local regulatory agencies and serves as the site point of contact for all regulatory agency inspections and inquiries e.g., HSA, EPA, Irish Water, Local Council
- Drive implementation of site environmental sustainability programme and goals
- Evaluate, with the Engineering Department, the applicable EHS requirements for the production lines being installed
- Work with local management to create and maintain Emergency Response Plans.
- Third level qualification in an Environmental Science/ Occupational, safety and health or related discipline is a necessary requirement for this position.
- Ability to understand the scientific process and implement EHS systems is a fundamental prerequisite in this role.
- A minimum of 5 year’s EHS experience.
- Comprehensive and technical knowledge of: ergonomics, safety engineering, occupational medicine, occupational hygiene, behaviour-based safety, waste characterizations, Hazardous waste regulations, EHS Auditing and a clear understanding and interpretation of EHS laws and regulations.
