R&D Engineering Manager

Role Overview
Here at GxP Recruitment we’re looking for a passionate and experienced engineering leader to guide and grow a high-performing team at the forefront of transcatheter medical device innovation. Key Responsibilities
  • Inspire, lead, and develop a diverse team of world-class engineers in the design and development of ground-breaking transcatheter devices and related procedures.
  • Play a critical role in organisational scaling, ensuring the team evolves in alignment with business goals and possesses the capabilities to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
  • Partner on strategic planning initiatives, working closely with internal and external experts to enhance both clinical and technical capabilities.
  • Build and strengthen cross-functional and cross-site relationships within a large, global matrixed organisation.
  • Support the delivery of complex and high-impact projects, often involving ambiguity or undefined pathways.
  • Make sound project decisions grounded in technical and clinical insight, combined with customer input.
  • Oversee a team of senior engineers and managers engaged in both product development and early-stage technology exploration.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching, ensuring robust career development plans and growth opportunities are in place for all direct reports.
  • Collaborate with project core teams to establish clear objectives and review performance progress.
  • Manage functional budgeting and resource planning, ensuring efficient and effective use of team capacity.
  • Ensure full adherence to company policies and relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Drive innovative solutions to both engineering and organisational challenges.


Ideal Background & Expertise
  • Level 8 degree in Engineering or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 7 years of hands-on engineering experience in a comparable environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing technical teams.
  • Strong people leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Proven expertise in program management within a regulated environment.
  • A dynamic, proactive mindset with the ability to lead in a global, cross-functional team environment.
  • Extensive experience in the medical device sector, with a results-driven and impact-focused approach.
