Project Engineer
Galway


Contract
Our client’s Galway facility is a leading international manufacturing site, established in Ireland over 30 years ago. Since its inception, the site has grown significantly and now comprises a modern purpose-built 700,000 square foot facility, accommodating both manufacturing and R&D. Located on the outskirts of Galway city, the facility is unique within the organisation, producing products across three of the company’s primary product ranges.
Job Purpose
To manage equipment project requirements from the quotation phase through to the mechanical build and commissioning phase.
Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the Equipment Team and internal customers to understand equipment requirements for each assigned project.
  • Collaborate with the broader Equipment Team to estimate project costs prior to customer approval.
  • Coordinate the mechanical and electrical assembly and installation of repeat-build equipment for the Galway site and other client locations.
  • Ensure schedule alignment within the Equipment Team to develop overall project timelines.
  • Prepare Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents for external vendors and manage quote submissions.
  • Engage with external vendors to obtain accurate quotations for project requirements.
  • Work with the Inventory Control Group to determine standard component requirements and manage purchase order placement.
  • Coordinate with Inventory Control and Equipment Build teams to achieve scheduled build start dates.
  • Provide technical input on equipment build challenges and potential improvements, drawing on previous project experience.
  • Resolve project issues by collaborating with team members, project stakeholders, and other relevant parties.
  • Ensure all equipment is built according to client specifications and standards.
  • Capture all required updates to drawings and associated documentation throughout the equipment build process.
  • Record lessons learned and update procedures as necessary to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Engineering qualification equivalent to or above NFQ Level 8.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Strong understanding of the principles of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
  • Ability to consult and accurately interpret both mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience with SolidWorks is desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Fundamental understanding of project management principles, systems, and activities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team and deliver projects on time and within budget.
