R&D / Product Development Engineer – Balloons
Job Overview
Here at GxP Recruitment we are seeking a dynamic and innovative R&D/Product Development Engineer to join our Galway based client who has a primary focus on balloon technologies—specifically extrusion and forming processes. In this fast-paced role, you will drive the development of new products for both existing and emerging markets, support tooling qualification, and lead capital equipment specification. You will work closely with Operations and cross-functional R&D teams to translate design requirements into optimised, high-quality, and scalable manufacturing solutions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and advancement of balloon technologies, including extrusion and forming.
  • Source, develop, and qualify new tooling and fixtures for both development and production.
  • Analyse and apply material properties of thermoplastic polymers to optimise balloon design and performance.
  • Develop strategies for equipment selection, process improvements, and measurement systems specific to balloon manufacturing.
  • Conduct trials for new balloon designs and support scale-up for production.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on sustainable operations within balloon development.
  • Integrate and standardise relevant testing methodologies to ensure product reliability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand application needs and design solutions accordingly.
  • Support validation and analysis of measurement data from development trials.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering teams to drive alignment, analyse data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations.


You will need
  • Minimum of a level 8 degree in a STEM based subject.
  • Experience with balloon development.
  • Excellent process development skills.
