Job Title: Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Technician
Overview:
As a key member of the maintenance team the Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical and instrumentation systems within the facility.
This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems commonly found in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

As a key member of the maintenance team the Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical and instrumentation systems within the facility.
This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems commonly found in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment and systems in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
- Calibrate and maintain instrumentation devices such as temperature sensors, pressure transmitters, flow meters, and analytical instruments to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and engineers to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Document maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other designated tools.
- Participate in training programs to develop and maintain technical skills and knowledge of new technologies relevant to electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
- Responds to corrective breakdown work and troubleshoots route cause analysis with Manufacturing.
- Schedule, complete, and assign Work Orders in a timely manner.
- Time served in an engineering technical degree or diploma, or Solas advanced craft certification to level 6, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance, preferably in a biopharmaceutical or similar regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical codes (NEC, IEC).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical circuits and control systems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Experience with instrumentation calibration, configuration, and troubleshooting, including familiarity with industry standards such as ISO/IEC 17025.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends, holidays, or off-hours as needed to support maintenance activities and respond to emergencies.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and work in confined spaces as required.
- Willingness to undergo additional training and certification as necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks.
- Exhibit strong judgment and decision-making skills.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to interface with all types of electrical/mechanical and construction contractors.
- Initially, role is a day’s role approx. 39 hrs per week but there may be a requirement to transition into a shift role at a later stage.
