Internal Sales Representative:
Our Client is currently seeking an internal sales representative to join a growing team. The role will be varied in focus, covering both new and existing customers. Your focus would be working with a diverse customer base from owners through to site contractors from your home office. You will have the phone based selling skills to help grow and drive a new business platform, enabling you to learn and develop yourself into an external sales role within 2 years. We are looking for someone with the drive and motivation to succeed through delivering results whilst developing yourself internally.
Our Client has created this role in order to provide a pathway into a full technical sales manager role in time after successful completion of training, development and delivery of sales targets and results. It would ideally suit a person wishing to move from a more hands on role to sales or somebody with internal sales / commercial experience wishing to develop more practical engineering skills with a view to progression into technical sales.
The employee is required to develop new opportunities to specify solutions on projects working with owners, engineers and installers in our chosen applications.
This role is a work from home role, with a requirement to attend the UK office (Manchester) upon request and support the external sales function within the team.
The role will be varied, carrying out specific investigation of projects, contacting and promoting our unique solution offer, whilst dealing with a number of client design requests for quotation. You will be expected to deliver simple online support training for a number of aspects of our added value services and systems.
You will also be responsible to offer advice and support of best installation approach, utilising a range of literature and product guides to help secure a quality installation.


Job Description:

  • Focus on new business development through new and existing customers
  • Generate new project specifications for our chosen product lines with owners / operators and engineers.
  • When required assist with sales activities at exhibitions and conferences
  • Research and approach potential clients, projects and markets to establish new areas of business and focus.
  • Support external sales staff with installation training and support to ensure installation quality when required.
  • Build relationships and identify new contacts / applications and projects to help further grow business with clients.
  • Drive sustainable sales growth through gaining engineering specifications for solutions and delivering world-class support throughout the project lifecycle
  • Plan and manage all customer contacts and meetings within CRM system
  • Provide routine, accurate and meaningful market information, forecasting and product planning to management
  • Provide pre-sales technical advice and solution guidance. This will extend to providing design input for our range of bespoke products where required.
  • Develop relationships with learning managers within design engineering clients, organising lunch & learn and CPD programmes.


Preferred Job Requirements:

  • University degree and/or equivalent. Consideration would be given to those without relevant degree and/or equivalent if sufficient industry specific experience working in a similar role could be demonstrated.
  • Professional sales experience with preference to those that have a successful record within a internal sales environment.
  • Experience of working on any of the following would be favourable, Process engineering sites, power networks, renewable generation, nuclear, marine, rail or building infrastructure.
  • Knowledge in target sector, with experience of civil construction, electrical, controls, automation and/or mechanical systems for our chosen markets.
  • Proven ability to manage long-term and complex sales projects to success
  • Ability to use industry news / project databases / relationships to develop technical sales opportunities
  • Experience of working with and supporting external sales roles as part of a team.
  • Proven track record of successfully working from home.


Basic Skills/Knowledge:

  • Successful track record of selling premium solutions within a phone based selling role
  • Experience of providing technical support both internally and externally
  • Successful track record of working with premium solutions against low-cost competitors
  • Ability or desire to pursue a technical sales role in the future
  • Full UK driving license
